One of the best LCD TVs I've ever watched. The new Samsung models have shiny screens but the reflections are too distracting for me. I've had this set for over a year and have only noted one problem. It shuts the video down for 5 to 10 seconds and then reboots every once in a while.
Now I am out of the American Express extended warranty as well. But there seems to be no solution to this problem.
The first day when it was out of the 1-year warranty, the problem occurred -- TV with sound but no picture. Later on I figuured that this is a problem that will show up when it is humid but will go away if it is sunny.
I bought this set in June 2007. I have been struggle with it and talk to different repair shops and American Express.
Fortunately I had the AmericanExpress. Howevever the repair shops can't really fix it because it is highly intermitent and goes away when the rain stops.
I googled and found that this is a common problem to many users and no one had a successful fix. Stay away from this product.
For a TV of this size, the audio is fine, plus I don't buy a TV for how it sounds, I buy an HK receiver and JBL speakers for that. The TV handles that just fine too.
This LCD is solid in every way. I've had this Samsung since July 2008.
I have it on the main floor of my home so there is a lot of light coming into the room. The picture is clear and the blacks are black.
Using OTA HD, there is no better picture that I have seen from friends and colleagues who paid twice as much as I did for LCDs and Plasmas of roughly the same size. My next purchase will be a Samsung bluray. The complaints about the audio are not justified.
I just may have to add a surround sound system to this TV that's as good as my home theater system in the basement.
I bought mine in September of 07 from Amazon and now it is broke little over a year. Takes 5- 20 minutes to turn on and Screen is going out.Warranty Just ran out so it going to cost from $500-Replace it depending on the problem the repair tech told me. Save your money and Get a Sony or LG STAY AWAY FORM SAMSUNG.
About 2 months after that repair I noticed that the Tv was taking longer than usual to turn on, approx 15 to 20 seconds, called Samsung and was told that it was normal (even though it had just started doing that). We purchased this TV from Circuit City on September 29, 2007 and have had nothing but problems with it. 7 months after purchasing this set we had to have a Samsung repair man out to replace the 'guts' (sound and picture) of the tv. Anyway, on Jan 2nd 2009, the TV turned itself off and back on, called Samsung and was told that this is the TV telling me that I need a new lamp (approx. a $400 repair), after digging a little deeper with this CR, was told that when the TV was taking a long time to turn on it was the first warning but now I am out of warranty.BE WARY, if the TV starts doing anything wierd call Samsung and get a repair person out ASAP.By the way I was also told that 2% to 3% of these TV's are expected to fail (very low percentage, but not when you pay $2500 and yours is in that 2% or 3%).
